Flying a Boeing 747 in Flight Simulator?

Ok, here is the deal folks, my friend had to go out on an emergency and told me to pilot his Boeing 747 towards Incheon. Now, I can see that the plane is flying but he tells me to go on the “flight path” and that “you should see it on the screen”. Now, I see like a million different screens and I honestly have no bloody clue what I am seeing (apart from a compass).

Where is this flight path screen thingy? Is it like a GPS for a Car? I have tried pressing vague things inside the cockpit but to no ado.

The plane is currently over the ocean past LA, flying West past Catalina.

Just keep pushing vague things inside the cockpit, you’ll figure it out.

Emergency you say? More like “I’ve done the exciting take-off part and cannot be bothered to sit here for the cruise so I’ll ask a friend to and then return just in time for landing.”

Just monitor the instruments and make sure the aircraft remains in straight and level flight (don’t be surprised if it turns once in a while as it’s trying to stay on course with the flight path).

Please ask your VIDEO GAME question in the GAMES section, where it belongs, or on one of the many flight simulator forums where they are welcomed.

The AIRCRAFT section is for questions about REAL aircraft, not virtual (pretend) airplanes from a computer game.

So your friend wants to do the fun part of flying and leave the boring part to you? And he didn’t even bother to give you any training?

If he’s online on a virtual flight network, the terms of service require that he fly the airplane himself.

I suggest that you leave the airplane to its own devices, and let the flight suffer the consequences of the pilot’s abandonment. Maybe that will help your friend understand the importance of staying in the cockpit while flying.

Your friend is an idiot to ask you to do that! Just hit ‘P’ to pause the game or hit semicolon to save it. Let him deal with it later!
